Kick off summer with an action-packed weekend when the X Games celebrates the third and sadly, last year in Austin. This event features extreme sports such as skateboarding, BMX, Motocross, and other competitions that push these athletes to the edge. The games are matched by performances from top performers like Blink-182, G-Eazy, All Time Low, and Logic. Check out the six villages at the Circuit of the Americas venue for even more fun. Whether watching pros grab air or catching a favorite band, you won’t want to miss the final year of the X Games in Austin.
Not to be outdone by the X Games, the Republic of Texas Biker Rally, known locally as the ROT Rally, is the biggest gathering of bikers in the state. This festival takes place at the Travis County Expo Center and features rides, races, and live music. Headlining this year’s Rally are The Cult on Thursday night, Chevy Metal on Friday, and John Kay and Steppenwolf on Saturday. Over the weekend, hit the Bud Zone throughout the weekend to catch awesome tribute bands before the big evening shows. If you want to experience all the excitement of the rally, be sure to stay with JW Marriott in downtown as Austin stops traffic for the big parade and party that covers over 50 blocks!
Austin prides itself on live music, and celebrating the nation’s independence is one more opportunity to enjoy an amazing performance. Catch Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic at the Circuit of the Americas with performances from over 20 artists and a fireworks display to celebrate America’s birthday.
The Austin Symphony will take the stage at Vic Mathias Shores for an evening of patriotic favorites, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display over Lady Bird Lake. Best of all the concert is free; just one of the ways Austin makes cultural events available to everyone.
Over 5,000 visitors are expected to flock to Austin for the 40th anniversary of this North American Gay Amateur Athlete Alliance Softball Championship, held in August. This NAGAAA Softball tournament features intense competition in a welcoming environment for the LBGT community as well as fans of the sport. JW Marriott Austin is proud to be one of the participating hotels offering accommodations to athletes, supporters, and softball fans.
